Renewables will be at the top of the agenda of the forthcoming Crans Montana Forum on Africa and the South-South Cooperation , to take place in Dakhla, March 12 to 15, 2015.
A Special Program will be dedicated to the development of Renewables in Africa, with a special focus on the investment opportunities raising from the Atlantic Sahara with regards to wind energy.
Indeed, Oued Eddahab-Lagouirais one of the largest, windiest and least densely populated regions and consequently one of the most suitable for the installation of wind farms.
In this perspective, the commercial exploitation of Tarfaya wind farm on Morocco’s southern Atlantic coast has just started, representing the largest wind farm of the Continent with no less than 131 wind turbines in an area of 8 900 hectares with a total capacity of 301 megawatts.
Other major projects are currently underway and Forum in Dakhla represents an excellent opportunity for international energy companies to promote their expertise, develop or strengthen relationships within this fast-growing region.
