+ 6th Annual Meeting of First Ladies

In the framework of the Crans Montana Forum on the South-South Cooperation, to take place in Brussels, March 7-10, 2012, will be held a special Women’s Programme devoted to « Enhancing Women Dignity » exceptionally co-organized by the Forum, UNESCO & ISESCO.
 
In its fight for the dignity of Human beings and against all sorts of discrimination, the Crans Montana Forum has constantly supported Initiatives recognizing women’s rights and removing all the obstacles to women’s active participation in decision-making.
 
The Crans Montana Forum states that an equal involvement of Men and Women in all fields of the Public life is essential for Sustainable Development, Welfare and Peace.
 
Once again this year, this special Programme will gather First Ladies, Ministers and decision-makers from the public and private sectors.

Within the framework of the Crans Montana Forum on the South-South Cooperation to be held in Brussels, a one day special Programme devoted to "Shaping the African States’ Energy Agenda" will take place for Specialized Government's Members, their Experts and the Businesses. This crucial issue, at the Crossroads of Public and Private sectors, represents the key the Development of the South and the Prosperity of the North. It will be an interactive Programme, in a private framework. It will allow Participants to exchange on the evolution of the global Agenda as well as the today's Energy concerns, with a focus on the Renewable Energy.

  1. the lack of good Governance in many countries which are  rich in oil, gas and minerals, generates conflicts and encourage corruption
  2. no Economic development, growth nor poverty reduction are possible without a fair natural resources' management
  3. good Governance in Emerging countries is possible only if the Industrialized ones follow and implement the same policy
  4. one must improve Governance in resource-rich countries thanks to the verification and full publication of company payments and government revenues especially from oil, gas and mining industry
  5. a partnership governments - companies - investors - international organisations is the basic requirement

Since 2004, the Crans Montana Forum has been organizing a very successful Political and Economic Forum devoted to Africa and the Arab World in the framework of the new international economic relations based on the South-South Cooperation (South America, Africa, Arab States and Far East).
 
This yearly Forum, gathering top level decision makers from around the World, aims to address the challenges of the Arab-African Cooperation, their respective role on the International stage, the new synergies of common development, the issue of natural resources and growth and also the new role of Europe.
