The Geneva October 2015 Homeland & Global Security Forum will address the crisis in the Mediterranean : Mrs. Giusi Nicolini, Mayor of Lampedusa will be presented with the Prix de la Fondation

August 28, 2015

Migration coming from the South is directly threatening the social, political and even economic stability of the European Union.
A record number of migrants have arrived in the EU over the last few weeks, fleeing war, violence and misery in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
This is an extreme emergency for Europe, which cannot seem to find a proper response to the worst migration crisis since the Second World War !
This is why the Homeland and Global Security Forum of the Crans Montana Forum will devote a significant part of its next Program to this issue, which has become a priority for all governments in terms of security challenges.
Enhancing border controls, redefining asylum policies and refugees status, coordinating the fight against criminal networks, preventing terrorist infiltration, crisis management and particularly the humanitarian crisis, will be at the centre of the Forum’s discussions.
Mrs Giusi Nicolini Mayor of Lampedusa will be the Guest of Honour of the Forum and will be presented with the Prix de la Fondation by Mr. Philippe Douste Blazy Under Secretary General of the United Nations.
