May 17, 2016

In a letter addressed to Mr. Pierre-Emmanuel Quirin, President of the Crans Montana Forum, on May 13, 2016, Mr. Maged Abdelaziz, United Nations Under-Secretary General & Special Adviser on Africa, commends the new initiative of the Forum :

«The thematic focus of this session, “ Restoring Confidence from Atlantic to Pacific Oceans”, will address a wide range of issues that are of great importance for Africa, including South-South cooperation, energy concerns, migration, global security and the management of emergency situations. I particularly applaud the inclusion of a session on “Africa and its connections with Central to Far-Eastern Europe”, which will provide an important opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen the region’s strategic partnership with Africa as the continent embarks on implementation of the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the continent’s ambitious, 50-year transformative agenda for development, peace and security. »
