On October 4, 2013 the Executive Council of UNESCO decided with an impressive majority (39/58) to propose Mrs. Irina Bokova as Director General of UNESCO for a new mandate of four years to the UNESCO General Conference.

On November 12, 2013 the General Conference confirmed Mrs. Irina Bokova as Director General of UNESCO with a 92% majority of voters ! That is unique in the history of UNESCO !
