The 21st Century Silk Roads : Global Trade and Global Security

Hosted by the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce

The ‘One Belt, One Road’ (OBOR) initiative launched by China in 2013 is a concerted effort to stimulate global growth and development through investment in the Silk Road regions. Though inspired by the traditional maritime and land silk roads, the ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative is truly global in scope, unlimited by geography.

The Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce was founded in 2015, in Hong Kong, China, with the aim of linking the international business community to the ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative. By nurturing relations between chambers of commerce throughout the Silk Road regions and beyond, and providing a direct conduit to the investment opportunities presented by OBOR, the SRCIC seeks to increase global trade and investment, draw nations that have often been at the margins of development into the very heart of this economic revitalisation, and promote fair and equal trade, peace and prosperity.

In a time of severe threats to global economic and political stability, SRCIC is pursuing trade and exchanges between nation’s and people’s as the clearest and most direct path to global peace and security.”

A Special Program hosted by the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce took place in the framework of the Homeland & Global Security Forum in Brussels (Belgium), October 20, 2016.
